In today’s world, video has become one of the most important forms of content on the Internet because now most Internet users can now stream video (and the quality keeps getting better….

Here are some ways to put video onto your website…

1. An embeddable video from a 3rd party source.
This is perhaps the easiest way to put video up on your website. There are hundreds of sources, including niche sites with videos for syndication. And many free video hosts like Youtube, Vimeo, Veoh, blip.tv, Revver, Tangle, Flickr, Facebook, etc.

2. Your own “live action” video.
This is the most complicated method – but don’t overlook its power just because you have to shoot it, transfer it, edit it, encode it, etc.

While it can be expensive (ex. $4,000 HD camera, $1300 Final Cut Studio, $700 Adobe Flash, etc) it can also be done very cheaply. Try the Flip Video camera ($50 – $200)

Watch the demonstration video below.

See how video brings a site ALIVE!

Now, there are two ways to embed video on a site:

a) Upload it to a video site like Youtube, and then embed it on your website.
Like the above video, this method is easy to do, but free video hosts have some downfalls such as looking less professional, displays ads (overlay on video, or at the beginning/end) and links to the video host.

b) Convert it to flash yourself, and then embed it on your website.
For this method use the Free tool: FLV Producer Lite

If you’re doing (or want to do) a fair bit of video streaming , I recommend upgrading to a dedicated server to host your video files.

Personally, I use GVO – my hosting company. GVO gives unlimited bandwidth and a host of other goodies try them out today with their $1 Trial here at: GVO

3. Your own screen capture video.
This is great for teaching and extremely effective for selling If you have the resources use Camtasia Studio from Techsmith (Approx. $300)

Check out the Camtasia Tutorials Here

Click Here For Jing, a cool free tool from Techsmith to make casual screen capture videos on the fly…

On a shoestring budget?

Then use a Free screen capture software called Cam Studio

However, Here Is A Better Than The Free Version ( for only $29)
Action steps:

1. Think about how you can incorporate video into your online business.
Ideas: Blog content, teaching series, intro video, video sales letter, explain checkout process, give your guarantee, explain email opt-in process, testimonials, squeeze page video, exit pop video, etc.

2. Add a video to your website!

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below.

The main reasons to use audio on your website are:

1. It builds trust.
2. It adds another level of communication.
3. It keeps visitors longer

Here are some practical uses for audio on a website…

1. Interviews, podcasts, etc.
Podcasting is syndicating your audio recordings using an RSS feed, such as feedburner. For info about putting your podcast on Itunes, see: http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/podcasts/specs.html

2. Welcome to website
Consider split-testing an intro audio on your website to see if it keeps visitors longer.

3. Testimonials
Boosts the power of the testimonial by giving it more credibility and adding that extra dimension.

Recommended resource for collecting customer testimonials: Audio Generator

4. Guarantees
It can be effective to put an audio button in your money back guarantee area, so your visitors can hear you giving the guarantee with the sincerity of your own voice.

5. Ordering instructions
Your audio can explain how to order.

6. Opt-in instructions
This can be especially helpful if you’re doing double-opt-in. After visitors to your site enter their name and email, you can verbally tell them to go check their email and confirm their subscription.

AWeber autoresponder does a very nice job of this!

7. In an exit pop
Did you know that 95% of the people that visitor your website leave within the first 3-7 seconds!
Use Exit Splash to capture that lost traffic and open a new channel of communication with your prospects! More importantly … get more sales and leads into your sales funnel! Sometimes it helps stop people in their tracks if a voice says, “Stop…I have something for you!”

8. Spoken transcript of your written content
Some of your visitors might prefer to listen rather than read. You could record yourself reading your content, or you could use a computer generated voice such as: Ispeech (free text to speech tool)

How to record your own audio for free:
First you need a USB microphone. You can get a decent one for under $30 at Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, etc.

Three steps:

1. Record an MP3 file
You’ll need some recording software.

My top recommendation is: Audacity (and its FREE!)

If you’re installing Audacity for the first time, you’ll also need to download the LAME MP3 Encoder file:
(If you need help with it, check out the Video Here)

2. Generate a flash player

I use Total Web Audio, a softare program developed by legendary Josh Anderson which makes my life a whole lot easier and is “dead simple” to use…

However, there are plenty of free MP3 flash players available: Such as…

Dew Player:

Dew Player for WordPress:

Player generator:

3. Embed it on your website
If you’re putting it on a WordPress blog, be sure to fix the URL’s in the embed code to locate your SWF and MP3 files at their absolute location.

Action steps:
1. Think about how you can incorporate audio into your online business.

2. Add some audio to your website today!

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below.

Some of the most common questions that we’re asked are about pictures and graphics on a site or blog.

Now while you don’t need graphics – it is a common fact that by including them increases website effectiveness in most cases.

Yes, there are examples of ugly websites with no graphics at all and they do make money probably because ugly sites with an amateurish look can create a sense of authenticity in certain cases…

However, consider your target market when deciding whether to go for a very professional “polished” look or not.

When selling to businesses – professional is ALWAYS better!

So, for a polished looking sales page, consider hiring a graphic artist to do your graphics for you. Some of the most well-known “mini-site” designers in the Internet marketing niche include…

Design Guru Ryan – http://designgururyan.com
Brent and Joe – http://www.minisitefrog.com
Karl Warren – http://ecoverninja.com
James – http://www.minisitestudio.com

(Prices ranging from $197 to $997)

Be cautious about using random freelancers

But before you feel the need to spring for a professional, consider going for a minimalist look…one with fewer graphical elements.

It just may be more effective, and it’s certainly easier if you’re doing it yourself.

One or two well-placed photos can go a long way in turning a bland HTML page into something that captures people’s attention.

So, where can you get photos to use on your site?

1. Use your own
2. Public domain

Just beware of “non-commercial use” clauses, and don’t waste time looking for a perfect image in the public domain when you could quickly license one for under $2.

3. License it from a stock photo site

Such as…

Istockphoto
gettyimages.com
photos.com
stockphoto.com
shutterstock.com

IstockPhoto – happens to be my favorite source because…

- they have high quality standards
- they have a great selection
- they’re cheap! starting at $1.50, or less if you’re buying in bulk.

Be aware of license terms – generally you can not use it in an item for resale unless you purchase a special license.

If you don’t have any graphics editing software, you can resize images with Microsoft Paint (included on Windows computers).

For a more powerful alternative, you can get Paint.NET for free.

Now, I use a simple software program called Laughingbird Software…

Laughingbird Software, The Web Graphics Creator makes creating images for your web site (or your client’s website) a snap!

Laughingbird Software enables you to make great Ecovers, even if you have no graphics skills at all. You can make Ecovers for ebooks, software programs, audio recordings, videos, and much more.

You can grab it at a special low price at Laughingbird Software:

Action steps:

1. Decide what kind of graphics strategy you want to use for your website. For example…

-The “intentionally ugly” look
-The minimalist few graphics look
-Professionally designed graphics package

2. Put some images/graphics on your website.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below.

Time!

Back in the ‘70’s, the Steve Miller Band had a song called “Fly Like An Eagle” that began with the lyrics: “Time keeps on
slipping, slipping, slipping into the future”…

Time.

We all have it.

It is the most precious commodity that we all have…it doesn’t even cost anyone a cent to own – it’s totally free!

With each day that begins we all are given the exact same amount of time to:

Eat, sleep, work…and play!

Yet how productive are each of us with it?

We all have the very same 365 days in the year to work with: Broken down into – 24 hours in a day, 7 days a week, and 52 weeks in the year.

Why is it then that some seem to get so much done while others always need more “time” to accomplish their tasks?

What is the difference between the $1 million dollar income and the $100,000 income?

Now, just think about this for a moment.

Assuming a “standard” 8 hour work day, working 5 days a week over a period of 50 weeks (excluding 2 weeks off for holidays: 52-2=50) one will be working a total of 2,000 “man hours” in a 365 day (1 year) period.

With me so far!?

Great!

So, the math becomes very simple – the person whose income is $1,000,000 a year is earning $500 an hour. The person getting $100,000 a year is earning $50 an hour!

Same hours worked!

However, a very big difference in the money you make!

Physically, it would be impossible to work an additional 18,000 hours more at $50 per hour to generate the $1 million dollar pay check…

However, what if you could “leverage” your time and resources?

“Leverage” – ever more with less!

The mythological Greek figure, Archimedes is quoted as saying: “Give me a lever long enough and I will move the world”…

Hence the word, “leverage”!

In fact, we all use this concept all the time each day…

Frankly, we would not even have the 8 hours a day to “work” if we did not employ leverage.

We use it: to drive to work – not walk; to switch TV channels – not get up to physically change channels; to buy a home – not wait until we have $800,000 – $1 million + saved ( I live in Vancouver BC, Canada and that’s our current reality – even in these times…)

Well, you get the idea!

I have long been a proponent of “leverage for success” and that’s where the Internet comes in!

In no other time and place in history has the ability to make money utilizing “leverage” been so available – to everyone – regardless of race, religion or creed…

As Alex Mandossian so eloquently puts it: “The Internet is the Medium – Now, find your Message and broadcast it to others with your Mouth and your Mouse”!

The reason for this site is so that you also will learn the tips, tools and strategies for putting the “new media” to work for
you…

We are here to help you utilize and leverage your time more effectively and efficiently for increased business profits utilizing the Internet.

As a individual, business owner PR person or marketer, you know the importance of controlling your name and
the power of branding your name or business name.

But, you say, I already have my name on Facebook.

However, what’s key here is not your name, it’s your URL.

Every time you want to send someone to your Facebook profile or page (remember profiles are your personal
section on Facebook, pages are your business side, and you can have unlimited numbers of pages) you currently have to send them to a URL that looks something like this:

www.facebook.com/people/Your-Name/52446540 (This is an inactive URL – so don’t click it.)

Wouldn’t you rather be able to send them to:

www.facebook.com/yourname ?

What Facebook made possible recently is just that – the ability to own your own name, or more importantly, your
company or brand name on Facebook. (Can you imagine someone else owning your brand name on that vital site?)

So, here’s what to do.

Go to:

http://www.facebook.com/username where you will find a form. It will give you several suggested usernames, and
the ability to choose your own. Either choose one of the names suggested or type in your own.

Repeat this process with any Facebook Pages that you are the administrator of (or have whomever is your
administrator do it for you.)

There are several conditions for pages that don’t apply to profiles though.

First, you need to have had at least 1000 page fans as of May 31st, 2009.

Second, you can’t acquire generic terms like travel or insurance (ChicagoInsurance is fine, but not Insurance), and third, you can’t get someone else’s registered trademark.

In face, if you have a registered trademark, Facebook has a way to protect yourself by filling out this form:

http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=username_rights

I suggest you go there right now, before someone else gets your name or brand!

This is ours – SuccessOnTheFly On Facebook

Alex Mandossian and Mark Huber at Internet Marketing Conference 2009

Simple as it sounds – what does it mean?

Well, just think about this for a moment.

Perhaps in the past you used a professional “telemarketing” service…

You know the kind – you hire someone to contact business owners or individuals to introduce them to your product or service.

Or maybe you couldn’t afford this type of a service or wanted to keep control of costs or the contact process – so you decided to do it yourself.

So, how did that go? Be honest now!

Generally, we call this form of communication “cold calling” – the the telephone being the medium.

It does work, but believe me it can be painful and having really thick skin does help!

And the results for the time spent are shall we say: “less than stellar”…

Why?

Was it you?

Was it your telephone manner?

Your message?

Your offer?

No, it was none of these things really…

So then, why did this form of communication not work?

Because this type of marketing is called “interruption” marketing.

Due to the fact that we did not ask to be contacted and no matter how interesting the offer or seductive the voice – we end up giving the standard:

“No thanks- not interested” response.

Waste of time and resources for the business reaching out – and time and energy for you.

Additionally, by engaging in this type of activity one is actually trading time for dollars.

Also, your message and the medium as well as your voice are limited!

Because you can only physically call so many people or places of business in a day – and that’s it!

However, with the Internet, the potential to increase both the reach of your message as well as your voice is not limited by the hours in a day…

When done right, you can have the medium of the Internet broadcasting your voice along with your message – 24/7.

This type of marketing is known as “permission” marketing.

Because those that find you want to know about who you are and what you have to offer them.

For example, you may be giving away a free report or audio recording talking about something of a high perceived value on your site.

In this case, when someone enters their first name and email address to receive the report or audio: they are immediately giving you permission to market to them!

They are giving you permission to continue the dialogue (that THEY) have opened…

Now, your job is allot easier because now these individuals are “warm leads” and by virtue of their contacting you are either interested, willing and/or able to make a purchase from you.

And THAT is what GOOD marketing for business is all about!
